"Sally Rogers, Marketing Manager of www.jobs4glazing.com, discusses the growing popularity of the recruitment web portal and how it can answer the needs of recruiters and candidates.
"
With an estimated annual turnover of £4.6 billion, the UK window and door industry is a significant employer of white- and blue-collar workers. Research we carried out during 2009 identified an industry need for a single recruitment web portal that would bring together employers and individuals seeking employment. At the start of 2010 we launched www.jobs4glazing.com - a website designed to help with individuals' and employers' recruitment needs. The format is one that has been successfully used by our team of software developers in many major UK industries. Employers can post their current vacancies, while candidates can upload their CVs and apply for jobs online. To encourage employers to add vacancies, there has been no charge for the service. This has enabled the website to gain momentum, resulting in over 50 vacancies being added since January.
The recession has hit the glazing industry hard, and as well as helping employers post jobs, www.jobs4glazing.com is proving invaluable for individuals who have been forced to look for new employment. We now have over 100 candidates registered on the website and these include a mix of people looking for a career change, employment after redundancy, or just a new job. Our offering to candidates is now further improved by the creation of a CV template service. On a www.jobs4glazing.com-designed template, a candidate's CV can be neutralised to remove any identifiable information. This is proving popular with people who are already employed but who wish to apply for a new role. Alternatively, the candidate's details can be added as on a normal CV but on our www.jobs4glazing.com template.
As the service is internet-based, it is essential that we gain the trust of candidates and help them in any way we can to find employment. The market is definitely picking up and there has been a recent increase in the number of vacancies for field sales staff and business development managers. This clearly indicates that companies are proactively seeking to increase sales. We cater for the whole supply chain in the fenestration sector and have seen jobs posted for fitters, technical staff, production roles as well as sales positions.
Early signs are that the website is working. To date we have a number of successful candidates who have been delighted with the help we have given them. We have helped place a production director at a major trade fabricator and have also secured a large number of sales positions for our growing bank of professional candidates.
We urge companies and agencies that are actively recruiting, to post their vacancies free on www.jobs4glazing.com. Just register online and then any number of additional vacancies can be added - also free of charge.
